The
"old school" Stardust hotel has been the
embodiment of Vegas style and flash for almost 40 years. Wayne
Newton, the quintessential Vegas performer, entertains in his own
theater.
Nothing better defines the Stardust than an early scene
in the film "Swingers": The two protagonists pull up to
the hotel in a vintage convertible and Rat Pack suits, sauntering
inside as the last notes of Tony Bennett's "With Plenty Of
Money And You" die away. "This is old school,
baby," raves one to the other.
Chief among the reasons for its longevity was the Stardust's
choice not to bend with the times. There are no family-oriented
attractions here. The race and sports book is national known. The
casino is large and filled to capacity with gamblers, not gawkers.
Many of them choose to dine in one of several fine restaurants,
while the bars and lounges serve cocktails to cigar-smoking high
rollers and women in sleek evening gowns around the clock. And
Wayne Newton, the quintessential Vegas performer, entertains in
the theater named for him.
The Stardust’s luxurious 2 1/2 acre outdoor recreational
complex includes two swimming pools enjoined by neatly manicured
tropical gardens. Graceful palm trees enshroud winding promenades
that lead to the waterfall spas and Fitness Center.
- Terrace Pool - This popular year ‘round gathering
place, with its crystal blue waters and spacious sundeck, is
an ideal spot to enjoy the balmy desert climate for which Las
Vegas is famous. You can cool off with a frosty beverage from
the Terrace Bar, which opens on to an awning-shaded poolside
sitting area cooled by misters. West Tower and East Tower
guests are only a short elevator ride away from this
beautifully landscaped enclosure.
- Villa Pool - Swimmers love the 100,000-gallon Villa
Pool because of its Olympic dimensions. Sunbathers flock to
the sprawling emerald-green lawns that surround it. Lanai
suites in the buildings that envelop the Villa Pool open
directly onto the grounds. Each suite has its own private
patio.
- Spas - Situated between the two swimming areas is a
sandstone grotto that embraces two large whirlpool spas.
Soothing waterfalls tumble into the bubbling waters. Abundant
tropical foliage establishes a welcome privacy. Visitors to
the spas feel as if they have discovered a secret jungle
lagoon.
- Fitness Center - The new 24-hour Stardust Fitness
